This platform connects alumni, friends, family and community members with causes they’re passionate about and helps our students, faculty and staff bring their ideas to life — for the benefit of our university, our state and beyond.

Where will my donation go?
Your donation will be received by the NC State University Foundation, Inc. and distributed to the fund designated in the project description. Your donation may be distributed to an affiliated foundation that manages the fund designation.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Your gift is tax-deductible and will help support the extraordinary students, faculty and staff working to make a difference at NC State.
Will I receive a receipt?
Yes, you will receive a receipt via email for tax purposes.
When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card will be charged immediately upon finalizing your gift on the website.

What happens if the project is not fully funded?
Each project team has a contingency plan specifying the course of action they will take if the project is not fully funded. This plan aligns with the original scope of the project as closely as possible, and donors will be informed should the contingency plan go into effect.
Will my gift count toward membership in the Chancellor’s Circle or other recognition programs?
Yes, your gift will count toward the $1,000 annual gift threshold to join or remain in the Chancellor’s Circle.
How do I support a project or fund that isn’t listed?
If a project you are interested in is not currently fundraising, we encourage you to visit give.ncsu.edu to find additional areas that align with your passions. If you need help identifying how to best support a particular area, contact us at crowdfunding@ncsu.edu or 919-515-7827.
How do I take advantage of employer matching gifts?
To determine if your gift is eligible for a match, search for your employer's program with our matching gifts search tool.
How do groups access funds they raise?
Your gift will support funds at NC State University held by a registered 501(c)(3) affiliated foundation. All gifts to NC State crowdfunding projects are directed to funds as indicated in the online giving process and receipt. If the project does not meet its fundraising goal, the funds raised will be used for the overall enhancement of the program housing the project. If, for an unforeseen reason, the documented project cannot be completed, the funds will be used for the overall enhancement of the program. Any dollars raised above the fundraising goal will be used to either advance the goals of the project or for the overall enhancement of the program.
Is there a minimum gift amount?
For gifts processed through our crowdfunding platform, the minimum gift amount is $5.
How do I get a duplicate receipt?
Contact NC State’s Gifts and Records Management at 919-515-7827 or giftsandrecords@ncsu.edu to request that a receipt be reissued.

Absolutely. The crowdfunding giving process adheres to the same strict standards as gifts made through ncsu.edu. Your crowdfunding gift will be made through Scalefunder, a giving platform that is Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) compliant, and processed through CyberSource, a certified Level 1 PCI Service Provider and leader in payment security.
