The drumline of the Power Sound of the South™ marching band brings excitement and energy to the start of every football game and every event — on campus and off — where their performances represent the spirit of NC State. While our current drums have served our student-musicians well for many years, it's time to replace them so the drumline can continue to be the heartbeat of the Power Sound of the South and energize the Wolfpack community.
High-quality equipment directly impacts the ability of our student-musicians to learn and thrive in academic ensembles like the marching band. With the support of our Power Sound of the South family and friends, we can give our students the tools they need to succeed. This funding will directly support the purchase of new drums and equipment for the drumline.
The average life span for a set of drums for a drumline is seven years. Our current gear is 11 years old. The total cost to replace our equipment is $25,000-$30,000. We're hoping to raise $10,000 or more to support that purchase.
Funds will be placed in the Marching Band Enhancement Fund. If the project does not meet its fundraising goal, exceeds the project need or cannot be completed, the funds will be used for the overall enhancement of the Power Sound of the South. Gifts are received by the NC State University Foundation, Inc. and may be distributed to an affiliated foundation that manages the fund supported by the donor.
