NC Clean Energy Technology Center's Student Training Scholarships

Help the NC Clean Energy Technology Center (NCCETC) raise funds for five student scholarships to attend a weeklong, hands-on solar energy training during spring break! Our  FSPV: Fundamentals of Solar Photovoltaic Design and Installation course balances classroom and hands-on learning for a well-rounded experience. By providing NC State students access to this course, NCCETC is striving to ensure students are well equipped to design and install solar systems that will help to combat energy challenges while setting them up for successful careers in an in-demand industry.

After completing the course, students may sit for the North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals’ (NABCEP) PV associate exam, which gives students a competitive advantage when breaking into the clean energy industry. NABCEP is an internationally recognized certification organization for professionals in the field of renewable energy and has certifications across a broad range of job types, from sales to engineering to project management. Passing the NABCEP associate exam qualifies an individual to design, sell, install or maintain systems in a supervised capacity. This is a great first step in a solar energy career and helps individuals prepare for additional certifications.

To help support future renewable energy leaders, NCCETC is raising funds for its Student Scholarship Program. We hope you will help support this important program with a gift. A gift of $1,000 will cover one full-ride scholarship for a student, but gifts of any size are welcomed and can be combined to provide the needed support.

Budget Breakdown:

The program goal of $5,000 will allow five NC State undergraduate and/or graduate students to attend a weeklong, 40-hour training during spring break 2024 at $1,000 per student. This cost will also cover the exam fee for the students to sit for the NABCEP PV associate exam. One way to think about this is that $1,000 covers 32 hours of classroom instruction by an industry-leading instructor, eight hours of hands-on experience installing a grid-tied solar system, the ability to sit for an internationally recognized credential exam and networking opportunities with solar industry professionals.

Funds will be placed in the NC Clean Energy Technology Center Fund. If the project does not meet its fundraising goal, exceeds the project need, or the project cannot be completed, the funds will be used for the overall enhancement of the NC Clean Energy Technology Center Fund.

Gifts are received by the NC State University Foundation, Inc. and may be distributed to an affiliated foundation that manages the fund supported by the donor.
